Mass and sealing reduce noise; a thin acrylic box mostly changes its character. If noise is the reason you are buying, ask about panel mass and whether the seams seal, not about the material.

CNC enclosures
People buy an enclosure for noise and keep it for the mess. A trim-router spindle in a spare room is loud enough to end the hobby, and chips from an aluminium cut reach further than anyone expects.
Where the machine goes into a workplace rather than a garage, the enclosure stops being comfort and starts being the guard.

What we check before you pay
Access is what you trade
Every enclosure makes setup, tool changes and clean-up slower. A design you have to dismantle to reach the table gets left open, which is the same as not having one.
Chips and coolant want different things
Dry chips need containment and a way to sweep out. Mist needs a sealed lower section and somewhere for the fluid to collect, or it ends up on the floor.
Guarding and interlocks
For a machine in a business, an enclosure without an interlock is a box, not a guard. Whether the door stops the spindle is the question an inspector asks first.
It has to fit around the machine and the cables
Gantry travel, spindle height at full Z, the cable chain and the dust hose all need room. An enclosure sized to the table rather than to the moving envelope will foul something.
Extraction has to pass through it
Sealing the machine without giving the extractor a path turns the enclosure into a dust chamber. The port is part of the design, not an afterthought.
How an order runs
- Say why you want it Noise, mess, coolant or compliance lead to genuinely different builds, and the wrong one satisfies none of them.
- Measure the moving envelope Not the table: the gantry travel, full Z height, cable chain and hose.
- Specification in writing Panel material and thickness, sealing, door type, interlock, extraction port and lighting.
- Access checked against your routine How you load, change tools and clear chips, before the design is fixed.
- Quote and approval Itemised, including the interlock where the machine goes into a workplace.
- Crate and ship Large, light and easy to damage. Flat-packed where the design allows, crated where it does not.
